ITINERARY
DAY 1 We leave home and travel to our base for the next four nights, Dumfries.
DAY 2 Our excursion today takes us to the historic city of Carlisle, a town rich in history dating back to Roman times with a wealth of attractions including the Cathedral, Castle and a pedestrianized city centre. We then visit Devil’s Porridge Museum in Annan, a Museum which commemorates HM Factory Gretna, the largest munitions factory in the world during the first World War and explores the stories of the Solway Military Coast during the second world war.
DAY 3 A day at leisure today to relax. Dumfries is a lovely town, browse the shops or relax in the Hotel’s Leisure Club. There is also the Robert Burns Centre in Mill Road, Dumfries, an award winning visitor centre telling the story of the connection between Robert Burns and the town.
DAY 4 Today we make our way West to Castle Douglas for a visit to Threave Gardens before having some free time in the market town of Castle Douglas.
DAY 5 Homeward bound.
