This historic, award-winning hotel could not be more centrally located or have a more dramatic view, located directly opposite Wells Cathedral. Parts of the hotel date back to 1422 and over the years, the hotel has been sympathetically refurbished and extended, offering modern amenities in a beautiful setting. Owing to the historic nature of the building, there is no lift but there are three ground floor rooms located in the adjoining Coach House.

DAY 1 We leave home and travel south to our overnight hotel in the North of England
DAY 2 After breakfast, we make our way south to our base for the next six nights at the Swan Hotel, Wells, taking in some of the Cotswold villages en-route.
DAY 3 Today we have a day at leisure to explore England’s smallest city.
DAY 4 (DAY 5 on August Departure)
Today we pay a visit to the extraordinary and unique Longleat estate, the first stately home to fully open its doors to the public back in 1949. After a tour of the fascinating house, we embark upon a safari and track down some of the park’s 1,000 animals - don’t forget to hide all your sandwiches!
DAY 5 (DAY 4 on August Departure)
After breakfast this morning, we will step outside our hotel and head for the Market Place where the award-winning Somerset Farmers’ Market (every Wednesday 9.00 am - 2.30 pm) will be in full swing. After browsing the market we spend the rest of our day exploring at leisure.
DAY 6 Today, we spend time in Bath where we visit the remains of one of the finest spas of the ancient world, The Roman Baths, before enjoying lunch in the Roman Baths Kitchen or Pump Room Restaurant (not included). We can then explore Bath at our leisure.
DAY 7 Another free day to enjoy Wells before making our homeward journey.
DAY 8 We leave Wells after breakfast and make a visit Gloucester before we travel to the North of England for our overnight stay.
DAY 9 We begin our journey home after breakfast.
